Agenda for AMC Meeting 26th January 2011

The agenda for the AMC meeting at Google’s office was initially set out to vote in the new chairperson for 2012.  However, there have been no candidates that have applied this year so the meeting will be to  discuss how the council should be led in the absence of a Chairperson.

Discussion will be based around the options available so please do feedback before the meeting on Thursday if you would prefer.  The options being considered are as follows but this is of course open to feedback and suggestion:

Steering Committee – applications have been received for the steering committee and I will announce these next Thursday.  The steering committee could effectively run the council with support from the IAB who would act as Chair.  The committee would agree and assign projects to individuals and groups to ensure we can complete work more effectively.

Sub-Committee Groups – we currently have four sub-committee groups for marketing, research, best practice and legislation.  Some areas have been very effective whereas others this year have been difficult to get support on and move forward.  Should we continue with the sub-committees in 2012?

Council Meetings – the council meetings last year became extremely popular with on average over 60 people in attendance.  It became ineffective to debate in these meetings and they gradually became more of a feedback session from the committee groups and Chair.  Should this be the case going forward and if so should they be less regular?  What else do people want to see in these meetings?

The full agenda for the council meeting will be as follows:

1. Introduction to Clare O’Brien (new contact at the IAB) – Helen / Clare

2. Steering committee applications – Helen / Clare

3. IAB to present recommendations on how the AMC should be structured and led in 2012 – Clare and jack

4. Update on the EU Privacy Directive – Helen

5. AOB

If you would like to add anything else to the agenda please contact me before Thursday 26th.

My term as Chair is now completed and although it is a shame that there is not another candidate to handover to I think that given the size of the council and the work that takes place a new structure could be more effective.  I will be standing down from the role as of Thursday 26th and responsibility will move to Clare at the IAB whilst the council defines the new structure.  Although it has been a challenging year I have enjoyed it immensely and am confident the council will continue to go from strength to strength.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has supported me over the last year in the council, committees and at the IAB.  A special thanks to Kevin Edwards who has continued to put the same effort in as he did when he was Chair, he has also committed a lot of his personal time and has ensured that this blog is now one of the most useful resources in the affiliate space.

Look forward to seeing you all next week for one last time!  Don’t forget that the meeting is at Google’s offices, see here for details:
